Bathroom Installation & Refurbishment
Home survey · Written quotation, no obligation
Alongside our adaptation work we design and fit complete bathrooms. Accessible and mobility bathrooms remain our specialism — but the same survey, the same written quotation and the same standard of finish apply to a straightforward family bathroom, an en-suite refit or a full strip-out and re-plan. One team coordinates the plumbing, electrics, tiling, panels and flooring, so you deal with one company from first visit to handover.
Design and survey before anything is priced
Every job starts with a survey in your home. We measure the room, check the water supply, waste run, floor construction and electrics, and talk through how the bathroom is used and what you want from it. The design and the quotation come from that visit — not from a catalogue layout that ignores your pipework.
The quotation you receive is written and itemised: the specification, what is included, and the agreed schedule. Nothing is booked until you accept it, and there is no obligation at any stage.
One team for the whole refit
A bathroom refit touches every trade — plumbing, electrics, tiling or wall panels, flooring, plastering and making good. We coordinate all of it, so you are not acting as your own project manager between a plumber, a tiler and an electrician who have never spoken to each other.
Sequencing is planned so the room is out of action for as little time as the work genuinely requires, and the schedule is set out in your quotation before work starts.
Finishes that suit the room and the budget
We fit tiled and panelled walls, slip-resistant and standard flooring options, and everything from a simple like-for-like suite swap to a full re-plan with the basin, WC and shower in new positions. Wall panels are often the practical choice where grout maintenance is a concern; tiling suits feature walls and traditional finishes.
If you are thinking ahead, a standard refit can be future-proofed without looking adapted: solid backing fitted behind the walls where a grab rail might one day go, a shower area that could take a seat, and a shower area planned with later changes in mind. Future adaptation options, including level access, depend on the room and floor construction and are checked at the survey.
Where adaptation experience still helps
Because accessible bathrooms are our core work, we notice things a general fitter may not — a threshold that will catch a foot, a shower control placed out of seated reach, a floor finish that turns slippery when wet. Even on a standard installation, that experience shapes the small decisions that make a bathroom easier to live with for longer.
Bathroom Installation & Refurbishment: straight answers
Can my bath be converted to a shower?
Often, but the survey needs to check space, floor construction, the waste route and the water supply. The drain must accommodate the chosen shower's flow with a workable fall. Existing bath connections do not automatically make level access feasible; a suitable low-threshold option may be considered if the user can manage it.
Can I retain my existing shower when adapting or refurbishing the bathroom?
Possibly, if its access, condition, controls and layout still suit the user and it is compatible with the proposed plumbing, floor and waterproofing work. Discuss retained fittings at the survey; changes around a shower may affect its seals and waterproofing.
What should an itemised bathroom quotation include?
Ask for the agreed fittings and finishes, retained items, removal, plumbing and drainage, electrical work, waterproofing and making good to be identified where relevant. Check exclusions and assumptions, and how changes to the scope and price will be agreed. This is a scope checklist, not a statement that every item is included in every job.
Who installs complete bathrooms in Hamilton and Lanarkshire?
Bathroom Adaptations Ltd, based in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire. What is involved in a full bathroom refurbishment?
The existing suite is stripped out and disposed of, pipework and electrics are altered to suit the new layout, walls are tiled or panelled, flooring is laid, and the new sanitaryware, shower, taps and fittings are installed and commissioned. We coordinate every trade, so you deal with one company from first visit to handover rather than managing separate contractors.
Do I need to find my own plumber, tiler or electrician?
No. Plumbing, electrics, tiling or wall panels, flooring and making good are all coordinated by us as part of the job. The written quotation covers the whole specification, so there is one point of responsibility for the finished room.
How does the survey and quotation process work?
It starts with a home survey. We look at the actual bathroom, ask who will use it and how they move, check the floor, walls, waste run and water supply, and talk through the realistic options. You then get a written, itemised quotation with the specification, the VAT position and the agreed schedule set out in it. Nothing is booked until you accept the quotation, and there is no obligation at any stage.
How long does the work take?
The schedule depends on the bathroom — the layout, the floor construction, whether the waste has to move, and the finish you choose. Rather than quote a generic number of days, we confirm the start date and the working schedule in writing in your quotation, after the survey, so you know exactly what to plan around.
Can a standard bathroom be designed so it is easier to adapt later?
Consider reachable controls, space for seating and suitable wall backing where rails are planned. Future adaptation options depend on the room, floor construction and drainage. Backing or a planned layout does not guarantee that level access can be added later.
Tiles or wall panels — which should I choose?
Both are fitted regularly. Wall panels have no grout joints to scrub; joints and seals still need normal checks and maintenance. Tiles suit feature walls and traditional finishes and give more design flexibility. We talk through the trade-offs for your specific room at the survey.

Frequently asked questions
Do you only fit accessible bathrooms?▾
No. Accessible and mobility bathrooms are our specialism, but we design and fit complete bathrooms of all kinds — family bathrooms, en-suites and full refurbishments — with the same survey, written quotation and finish.
Do you handle the plumbing, electrics and tiling?▾
Yes. We coordinate every trade the job needs — plumbing, electrics, tiling or panels, flooring and making good — so you deal with one company rather than managing several contractors yourself.
How long does a full bathroom refurbishment take?▾
It depends on the room — the layout, the floor construction, whether pipework or the suite is moving, and the finishes chosen. The agreed schedule is confirmed in writing in your quotation after the survey, so you know exactly what to plan around.
Can a new bathroom be designed to suit future mobility needs?▾
Yes, discreetly. While the walls are open we can fit solid backing where a grab rail may one day be needed, and plan a shower area that could take a seat, without the bathroom looking adapted. Whether level access could be added later depends on the room, floor construction and drainage, which we check at the survey.
Do you supply the bathroom suite and materials?▾
Yes, everything is supplied and fitted as part of the quotation, so there is one specification and one point of responsibility. If you have already bought items you want us to fit, mention it at the survey and we will advise.
Which areas do you cover?▾
We are based in Hamilton and cover Motherwell, Wishaw, East Kilbride, Blantyre, Bothwell, Airdrie, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld, Glasgow and the wider Central Scotland belt.
