Because the bath was already plumbed for water in and out, the supply and waste are usually right where we need them. That keeps the price down and the dust to a minimum.
What changes — and what doesn't
We strip out the bath, the surrounding panel and the tile splashback. In goes a new tray, a screen or door, the shower itself, grab rails, and slip-resistant flooring extended a little beyond the wet area. The toilet, basin, storage and rest of the décor stay exactly as they are unless you ask us to refresh them.
If you'd like to update the basin or refresh the tiles at the same time, we'll quote it as an option — never bundled in by default.
Funding and VAT relief
VAT depends on the circumstances: qualifying work in the private home of a disabled or chronically sick person, where it is necessary because of their condition, can be zero-rated under HMRC rules. Certain installed mobility aids can qualify for 5% VAT for customers aged 60 or over. General bathroom improvements are standard-rated. We confirm which rate applies to your job in the written quotation. Where zero-rating or the reduced rate applies we handle the eligibility declaration. If your local council is funding the work, we'll quote in the council's preferred format.

What is involved in a bath-to-shower conversion?
The bath is removed and disposed of, the existing hot, cold and waste connections are adapted to the new shower position — which is often why a conversion is more straightforward than a full re-plan — and the wall behind any rail or seat is reinforced. A low-step or level tray is set and levelled, walls are tiled or panelled, screen, mixer and rails are fitted, and the floor is finished in a slip-resistant covering.
Is a bath-to-shower conversion the right choice, or should the bath stay?
Keep the bath if it is still used comfortably and safely, and the household has no one who struggles to get in or out. Convert when climbing over the bath side has become the daily problem — that is the point at which strip washes start replacing proper washing. If the household is split, a conversion in one bathroom while another keeps a bath is often the practical answer.
How does the survey and quotation process work?
It starts with a free home survey. We look at the actual bathroom, ask who will use it and how they move, check the floor, walls, waste run and water supply, and talk through the realistic options. You then get a written, itemised quotation with the specification, the VAT position and the agreed schedule set out in it. Nothing is booked until you accept the quotation, and there is no obligation at any stage.
How long does the work take?
The schedule depends on the bathroom — the layout, the floor construction, whether the waste has to move, and the finish you choose. Rather than quote a generic number of days, we confirm the start date and the working schedule in writing in your quotation, after the survey, so you know exactly what to plan around.
Do I have to go through the council, or can I pay privately?
You can arrange and pay for the work with us directly. Council help in Scotland runs through each council's Scheme of Assistance and follows an assessment of need; eligibility, the level of any grant and the process vary by council and by whether you own or rent. If a council grant is involved, we can provide the quotation in the format your council asks for. VAT depends on your circumstances and we confirm the applicable rate in the quotation.

Is the conversion suitable for a wheelchair user?▾
A standard bath-to-shower conversion gives easy access for most people, but if a wheelchair or hoist transfer is involved a level access shower or wet room is usually the right call. We'll advise honestly at the survey.
