Level Access Showers
From £3,400 fully fitted
A level access shower removes the step entirely — the shower floor sits flush with the bathroom floor. It's the right choice for wheelchair users, anyone who can't lift their feet reliably, and households planning ahead for changing mobility.
How we achieve a true level entry
There are two ways to fit a level access shower: dropping the floor joists to recess a tray, or using a low-profile tray with a tapered ramp tiled in. Which is right depends on whether your bathroom is on a solid floor or suspended timber, and how much disruption you're willing to live with.
On suspended floors we can usually recess a slim tray between the joists. On solid concrete we'll either core the floor or use a near-flush tray with a discreet 6mm threshold — visually almost identical, and a non-issue for most wheels.
Fully waterproofed, not just sealed
A level access shower has no upstand to contain water, so the floor and lower walls must be tanked properly. We use a liquid waterproof membrane on every level access install — the same system used in commercial wet rooms. It's invisible once tiled, but it's the difference between a 20-year install and a 5-year one.
Where this sits between a walk-in and a full wet room
A level access shower keeps the rest of the bathroom dry — toilet, basin and storage all continue to work the way they always did. A full wet room turns the whole room into the shower. Level access is the right answer when you need step-free entry but want to keep a conventional bathroom layout.

Frequently asked questions
Will a level access shower work on an upstairs bathroom?▾
Yes, in almost all cases. We assess joist depth at the survey — most suspended floors give us enough room to recess the tray cleanly.
Does the whole bathroom get wet?▾
No — that's a wet room. A level access shower keeps the wet area contained with a glass screen and good drainage; the rest of the room stays dry.
Is it wheelchair accessible?▾
Yes — that's its main purpose. Standard layouts give a clear 800mm entry; we can go wider where the room allows.
What happens if the floor isn't strong enough?▾
We'll tell you at the survey. On the rare occasion the floor needs reinforcing we'll quote separately for it — you're never landed with a surprise bill.
