Disabled Bathroom Adaptations

Free home survey · From £2,899 fully fitted

We design and fit bathroom adaptations for disabled and elderly users across Central Scotland — from a single grab rail or raised toilet, to a full wet room. Most jobs we take on are recommended by an occupational therapist and funded, in part or in full, by the local council.

Adaptations we fit most often

Walk-in showers and bath-to-shower conversions cover most households. Where a wheelchair is involved, or where mobility is likely to deteriorate, a level access shower or full wet room is usually the right answer. We also fit smaller adaptations on their own — grab rails, raised toilet seats, high-rise WCs, lever taps and easy-access basins.

Every job is surveyed in your home. We don't quote off a phone call — bathroom layouts vary too much for that to be honest.

Working with occupational therapists

If you've had an OT visit and have a written recommendation, bring it to the survey. We'll quote against the specification line-by-line in the format your council needs. The grants officer can read it without translation, and there are no surprises during the install.

If you haven't had an OT visit yet but think you might qualify, our guide to Scotland grants explains how to request one through your local social work team.

VAT relief and grants

Bathroom adaptations for disabled people are zero-rated for VAT — we handle the eligibility declaration. Most essential adaptations are 80% funded under Scotland's Scheme of Assistance, and 100% funded if the household receives a qualifying benefit.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an occupational therapist referral?

No — many of our customers self-fund or top up a council grant. If you do have an OT recommendation we'll quote against it; if you don't, we'll advise based on the home survey.

How much will the council pay?

Under Scotland's Scheme of Assistance, most essential adaptations are 80% funded, or 100% if you receive a qualifying benefit. The exact amount depends on the council and the OT recommendation.

Can you fit a single grab rail rather than a full bathroom?

Yes. Smaller adaptations are charged as half-day or day rates. Call us — we'll tell you honestly whether it's worth a visit or whether you'd be better off with a local handyman.

Do you cover my area?

We cover most of Central Scotland — Stirlingshire, Falkirk, West Lothian, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Fife and the surrounding belt. Call to confirm.
